Hennessey Camaro HPE700 Hits the Rollers
Written by Corey Mullane Tuesday, 22 September 2009
When Hennessey announced their plans to shoehorn a LS9 motor from a ZR1 into the new 2010 Camaro the world stood still. When they released pricing equal to that of the ZR1 again the world paused. Last night it was time for the first Hennessey HPE700 to hit the dyno with its aforementioned powerplant strapped securely under its bonnet and potentially cause a little more havoc in the earth’s rotation - luckily there was a video camera present to capture the event.
When the pull was over and dyno screen lit up with the results, the Hennessey Performance DynoJet spit out 645rwhp and 653lb.-ft of torque. That’s over 100hp more than a factory ZR1! Hennessey tested their ZR1 back in December and pulled off a very impressive 530rwhp and 524lb.-ft of torque. However Hennessey doesn’t do second rate and they wanted to make sure they had the baddest Camaro in all the land so they cranked the horsepower up to 11 and we think it sounds just perfect.
You can check out the video of the pull in all its glory right here below:
