Something's Sideways At Gardella Racing
Written by Corey Mullane Tuesday, 20 January 2009

Gardella Racing took a big step in 2008 and decided do something they've never done before by putting together a drift car, in the form of a Pontiac Solstice GXP, to run in the 2008 Formula D season. Their efforts paid off however, as the Mobil 1/Gardella Racing built Pontiac Solstice ran strong all season and took out many more powerful competitors, despite the Solstice only having 330 ponies to drift around the track with. Ryan Tuerck, the driver of the Mobil 1/Gardella Racing Pontiac Solstice GXP, was literally the driving force behind the team's domination and so much so that Tuerck was awarded the Formula D Driver of the Year award for his performance during the 2008 Formula D season. For 2009 however, Gardella Racing has some bigger plans in mind's
Gardella Racing is sticking with their familiar and trusted Pontiac Solstice GXP but with a few minor tweaks. We snuck into the Gardella Racing facility with our trusted point-and-shoot and grabbed a few pictures of the setup they are working on for the 2009 Formula D season. By the looks of it, the boys at Gardella racing are shooting for nothing less than complete domination in 2009.
What we could gather from our brief glimpse of their project, is that the Mobil 1/Gardella Racing Pontiac Solstice will be powered by a Precision Turbo Turbocharger, fed by a custom Gardella Racing header and a Synapse wastegate and blow-off valve while a pair of Fast XFI boxes in the passenger footwell handles the fuel situation. Gardella is also going to start using and testing the new Mobil 1 Racing Oil, that was announced at PRI in December, to help him get an extra edge on his competitors. This combo will be good for over 500hp which should give Tuerck a hand over the pesky V8-powered vehicles that were nipping at his heels last year.
Stay tuned as we will have more details and pictures of the Mobil 1/Gardella Racing Pontiac Solstice as the build continues and the Formula D season grows nearer. So keep your browser pointed to GMTunerSource.com for all the latest info.
